About Field Notes Ohio
An independent guide to Ohio's outdoors, built so the questions you have before a trip are answered in one place: what's there, the story behind it, where to camp, and where to eat and fuel up nearby.
What's in the guide
How it's put together
Every entry is researched from public sources: the agencies that run each place, historical records and published histories, and trail and wildlife references. Park pages link to the official source so you can confirm hours, fees and closures, and each page shows when its details were last checked.
Locations are marked by how sure we are of them. A verified entrance or visitor center is shown as exact; a place known only to a town or a general area says so. Restaurant and gas station suggestions come from Google Places and reflect popularity and distance, not paid placement.
Legends are told as legends, and where sources disagree the entry says so. Difficult history is included as history.
The seven regions used to browse parks follow county lines, so the park list and the map always agree about where a place is.
Your data
There are no accounts, ads or tracking scripts. Places you save and trips you plan are kept in your own browser and never sent anywhere.

Prices change, trails close and new places open. If something's out of date or you know a place that belongs here, email hello@fieldnotesohio.com.
